How To Produce Reports In Franklin

Franklin offers users the option of creating a custom clinical-grade genetic report, based on the results of the analysis.

Updated over a week ago

Franklin's premium users can now create a clinical report, based on their case analysis, in a simple, efficient way. In this article, we will show you how to build, sign and export the genetic report.

Let’s start!

To generate a report, first choose which variants will be included, for which there are two easy options:

  1. Attribute each variant to its reporting bin- By using the different bins in the workbench, you can differentiate causal variants, secondary findings, and any other category that you wish to report on. Simply Drag and drop each variant to its relevant bin.

  2. Add the variants manually (for somatic cases):

In the workbench, go to the wanted variant, then press on the 3 dots at the right end of the variant tile then choose “Include in Report

After choosing the relevant variants and before we can start generating a final report, you need to classify each variant according to its pathogenicity. To learn more about the classification process, click here.

Now, you are ready to generate the report in the “Report Preview” tab. Here, you can review all of the details that will be included in the report. Note, that all of the information will be taken directly from the workbench.

If you have any last-minute changes you want to add to your report, you can edit everything in the Report wizard! Simply click on the pencil icon in the right upper corner, and you can edit every component including case information, family history, and recommendations.

Note that you can also add “Case resolution” under recommendations. Here you can put your own input concerning the case, add medical recommendations and give a case status based on the results:

  • Positive- the test discovered a variant that correlated with the suspected syndrome.

  • Negative- the test didn’t discover a variant that correlated with the suspected syndrome.

  • Inconclusive- the test showed variants that were VUS.

Now, your report is ready to be signed. You can choose between “sign as preliminary”, which basically saves the report as a draft, or “sign as final” which locks the report for further changes.

Export:

When your report is ready, you can export the full report to either a pdf or a word file, using the “Export” button.

That’s it! Your report is done!

But don’t worry, because you can still revise a signed report if you need to change or update it. Simply go to the “Report Preview” tab and click on “Revise”. You can then add any changes and updates to your report and re-sign the report.
