Learn how to seamlessly create a custom clinical-grade report using Franklin

Updated over a week ago

Franklin allows users to easily create a clinical report based on their microarray case analysis, in a simple, efficient way. In this article, we will show you how to build, sign and export a customized report for your cytogenetic cases.

In the workbench

First, you should review and classify all the segments you intend to include in the report. If you need help with the variant interpretation and classification process, check out this article.

After all relevant segments are classified, use the different reporting bins in the workbench to differentiate between 'Primary findings', 'VUS' and 'LOH to report'. (you can add any other custom category you wish to include in your report). Simply Drag and drop each variant to its relevant bin.

In the Report Preivew

Once the segments are classified and categorized into the different bins, you are ready to generate the report. Go to the Report Preview tab to access the Report Wizard, where you can review all of the details that will be included in the report. All of the information will be taken directly from the workbench, including case details, segment classification with their respective interpretation texts, and relevant evidence.

If you have any last-minute changes you want to add to your report, you can edit everything in the Report Preview! Simply click on the pencil icon in the right upper corner, and you can modify any information including case information, family history, and recommendations.

You can also include a case resolution section in your report. Under the Recommendations segment, you can incorporate your own input regarding the case, add medical recommendations and provide a case status based on the results:

  • Positive- Reporting a primary finding or VUS.

  • Negative- Not reporting any primary finding or VUS

  • Inconclusive- the test showed segments with uncertain significance.

Note that all the sections in the Report Preview are customizable, so we can work with your team to create a report structure that fits your organization's needs. For users from non-English speaking countries, we also support reporting in different languages.

Once the examination of every section in the Report Preview is completed, and your report is ready to be signed. Depending on your organization's reviewing process and each user's permissions, you may choose to between the options to Sign as preliminary, which saves the report as a draft, or Sign as final, locking the report from further changes.

Export:

When your report is signed, you have the choice to export the full report to either a PDF or a Word file, using the Export button on the top right.

That’s it! Your report is done!

But don’t worry, you can still revise a signed report if you need to change or update it. Simply go to the Report Preview tab and click on Revise. You can then make any desired changes to your report and re-sign the updated report.
