Working Together on a Case

Franklin supports working together over a specific case. Here are some features that can help:

  • Variant Case Level Comments: You can add free text comments on a given variant that will appear only in the specific case:

    • To add a free text comment on a variant, click on "Add Comment" in the variant actions menu:

      Adding variant comment

    • or the discussion icon in the sidebar, Use "@' to tag team members in the comment:

The discussion sidebar in 'variant full details' view

    • The entire discussion will be displayed in the sidebar, and the latest comment will be displayed on the variant tile for the next person to identify. To make a private comment that won't be displayed even to other team members, mark the comment as private using the checkbox.

Comments displayed below the variant tile

    • Note that these comments are completely internal and will not be shared outside of the community. These comments will appear only in this case and will not be passed on with the variant to the next case.

    • Marking as not relevant: another option is to mark variants as 'not relevant'. This can be done by clicking on 'not relevant' on the variant action menu or by dragging the variant to the "not relevant" bin. When marking a variant as 'not relevant', it's important to add a reasoning to document your decision. This will gray out the variant tile and display the reasoning below.

  • Global Variant Evidence: Save observations/comments for all cases showing a variant.

and displayed in all cases showing this variant. To add an evidence:

    • To add global evidence, click "Add Evidence" on variant actions menu or at bottom of "Classify" page.

    • Enter evidence in free text or structured tags. It's displayed on the bottom of the variant tile.

    • Note: This info isn't part of interpretation text in the report.

  • Case Comments: In the workbench, you will find a text box called "Case Comments" that allows you to leave comments on the case level.
