My Organization Classification

Franklin allows organizations to apply their own custom classifications.

When a user applies classification to a variant, the organizational status is displayed on the right side of the variant tile, within both the Workbench and Variants tabs — adjacent to the “Mark as not relevant” (NR) icon.

By default, each variant is labeled “No Classification”, represented by a white flag icon. Clicking this icon opens the Variant Interpretation window, where users can assign a classification based on available evidence. Classification Color Coding can be found here:

Once a classification is applied, the icon updates automatically to reflect the selected category using the appropriate color and abbreviation (e.g., “LP” for Likely Pathogenic in orange).

See Organizational Classification Display – Variants > Right-Side Tile Indicator

If another user from the same organization has previously classified this variant in a different case, a smaller flag icon appears above the three-dot menu on the tile’s right side. This smaller flag indicates the previous classification using its corresponding color.

See Previously Assessed Classification – Small Flag Display:

Hovering over the small flag icon shows a tooltip with the full classification label and its corresponding color.

See Tooltip on Hover – Previously Assessed Classification:

Clicking the small flag icon redirects the user to the Variant Interpretation Hub, specifically to the “My Organization Assessment” tab, which lists all previously classified assessments by that organization.

See Variant Organization assessment classifications display from both current and former cases:

If a classification exists, the flag icon is colored. If no classification exists, the icon remains white.

Organizational classifications are visible in both List View and Table View. In a “Table View” mode, previously classified assessments from other cases are displayed in the KB (Knowledge Base) column rather than as a flag icon.

See Organizational Classification – Table View Presentation:

For somatic cases, the display behavior remains the same but uses Tier numbers instead of ACMG classifications.

See Somatic Classification – AMP Tier Display on Variant Tile:

In somatic variant tiles, up to three classifications may be shown on the right: (i) Somatic Classification; (ii) Oncogenic Classification; (iii) Germline Classification.
